Groups and Prague Hotels

Groups at Pragues Municipal House

With summer coming to a close for yet another year and young people getting ready for another school year it's a good time to think about learning opportunities abroad. Prague is famous for its fine art, from photography and film to painting and sculpture and its unique heritage in glass making. But there are many more opportunities. Prague has many TEFL programs and many MBA programs from some of the world's most recognized universities.

Prague also offers some of the most interesting historical contexts in which to study or visit to experience them first hand.

Hotel Portals has successfully worked with school groups coming to Prague. We can help arrange travel, educational opportunities, recreation and "off time", as well as, of course, hotels. Recent groups have included fifteen colleges students from the US studying socialism and its effects and a half dozen retirees learning glassblowing in a master's workshop.

Of course not all our groups are here for educational purposes. We have arranged weekend spa getaways, casino tours and others. But more about them another time.

I you have questions about how we can help your group please don't hesitate to contact us.

Autumn in Prague

Prague Fall - Stromovka Park

Autumn in Prague is one of the best times to visit. The weather ranges from warm to crisp but often the humidity of summer, like most of the tourists and high season prices, goes away. Hotels offer some of their best rates in the fall so it’s an especially attractive time to travel for groups whether for a quick weekend away from the regular routine or a longer stay with a few jaunts outside the city.

Prague has the advantage of not being a season based attraction like seaside or skiing destinations can be. Its beauty and magic really can be enjoyed year round. Boat trips on the Vltava River are as romantic, the Prague Castle and other historic districts are all open for visitors. And of course, the pubs, cafés and restaurants are in full swing. Outdoor theater is about then only thing that does close down but there are plenty of venues from small, intimate stages through Jazz and Blues clubs to the National Ballet, Opera, and Theater that never close. Laterna Magika is one such national treasure - and there is rarely any speaking in their shows so language is no problem.

And finally, the parks that are glorious in the autumn. The scent of the leaves and the colors they turn are wonderful to experience. Prague boasts some of Europe’s biggest and most beautiful urban parks. Petrin, Stromovka and Letna are all in the historical center of the city and can be a lovely interlude after a day of museums and palaces and before an evening of nightlife.
