Hotel Červený Lev/Red Lion   starstarstarstar

Hotel Dum u Cerveneho Lva - (the House at the Red Lion) lies in the historic center of Prague, in Lesser Town, just a few meters away from the main gate of the Prague Castle. Though the first written records of the house date back in the 15th century, it's origins go back even further, to the 1300s. Throughout the ages, this fascinating building has been moulded by many eras of architectural styles. the Hotel's well preserved basement rooms are from the Gothic period. Renaissance style is evident in the painted beamed ceilings, and the main entryway is the result of Baroque reconstruction. Even later adaptations brought further architectural elements, among which Classicist detailing stands out. The last reconstruction of the House at the Red Lion, occurring between 1994-95, faithfully preserved the eclectic historical character of the building.

For those who wish to stay on Prague's left bank of the Vltava river, Hotel U Cerveneho Lva offers an ideal location. It is up the street from Lesser Town Square on famous Nerudova Street. The Prague Castle, where Czech kings, Holy Roman Emperors and past and present presidents of Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic have had their offices, is just further up the street. You'll also find the awe inspiring St. Vitus Cathedral. It is a stunning example of Gothic architecture and contains the tombs of many Czech kings. St. Nicholas Cathedral, Golden Lane, Charles Bridge, all these and many other palaces, gardens and historical gems are less than one kilometer from your hotel.
